Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards Competition theme will be Empowerment of Villages through Technology

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, Engineering Council of India (ECI), and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), are jointly holding a competition “AICTE-ECI- ISTE Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards2018” for the students of AICTE approved Degree & Diploma level Technical institutions.

The Awards are aimed for motivating young individuals, inspiring leaders and institutions/ organizations to raise their performance in their specific domains leading to significant contribution towards the growth and development of the nation. At the ‘AICTE-ECI-ISTE Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards 2018’, the innovations and achievements of individuals and institutions/ organizations shall be recognized and applauded. These awards are an embodiment of encouraging truly successful efforts that have made a mark on the industry or the society in terms of delivering better outputs & processes and creating higher benchmarks for the industry / society to help in nation building.

The Problem Statement for the AICTE-ECI Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards 2018 is “Empowerment of Villages through Technologies” In the era of internet technology and 4th Industrial revolution that is ready to take-off at all spheres of development, India’s development lies in its villages and rural areas where every development challenges are seen to be a big market opportunity. These opportunities need to be unleashed and addressed innovatively by our young engineering minds using various technological options. Among many thrust areas of rural development viz; Water & Irrigation, Sanitation & Solid Liquid Waste Management, Rural Infrastructure, Tourism, Agriculture & Food, Education, Skill Initiative & Start-ups, Rural Craft & Livelihood generation technologies are the areas seems to be instrumental and need technological interventions to improve the quality of life and per-capita income of village, contributing to the national growth. To recognize and honour innovative work of the students displaying exceptional skills by providing the innovative solution on the given theme. Applications will be short listed based on their conformity to the guidelines and information furnished by nominees for specific categories. The recipients will be finalized based on the Recommendation and NOC forwarded by the institute and scrutiny of the applications by the jury & practical demonstrations by the contestants.


Awards will be given in following categories for Degree and Diploma Students (including students from AICTE approved Community College):

  • Category-I : Outstanding Innovative Team Award (Degree and Diploma)

  • Category-II : Outstanding Teacher Award for mentoring Students Project


For the holistic development of villages under the above theme, the following 8 sub-themes have been shortlisted: - 1. Water & Irrigation 2. Sanitation & Solid Liquid Waste Management 3. Rural Infrastructure 4. Tourism 5. Agriculture & Food 6. Education, Skill Initiative & Startups 7. Rural Craft & Livelihood 8. Any other Rural Appropriate Technologies. Students can also refer to the AICTE initiative of “Developed Village –Developed Nation” under the Saansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) Program to get an idea of their project.

Vishwakarma Yojana:

An Approach towards Rurbanization will focus on

"Atma Gaon Ki Suvidha Shahar Ki"

Phase- VI of Vishwakarma Yojana in Gujarat Technological University (GTU) is framed to provide the benefits of real world experiences to the students of Engineering and Management phase wise and simultaneously apply their technical knowledge in the development of infrastructure in Rurban area.

The project is under taken on a “Design to Delivery” basis. The PhasesI, II ,III,IV & V of Vishwakarma Yojana project is successfully completed by Degree and Diploma Engineering students of GTU. The Phase VI of Vishwakarma Yojana will include the participation of Engineering (Civil & Electrical), Architectural and Management students for making the recommendations on the application of technology to achieve integrated and comprehensive development, through project preparation and management. All the students who selected and participating would undertake the project work on site and will be appreciated by getting the stipend as decided by “Commissionerate of Technical Education Department”.
