Atal Innovative Mission under Niti Ayog has provided the fund to Gujarat Technological University to start Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam lecture series. First lecture of the series was inaugurated by Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Minister of Education, Government of Gujarat.

On the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, during National Start-up Summit 2017, under the aegis of India International Science Festival, Atal Innovation Mission, Niti Ayog awarded Gujarat Technological University for supporting Start-up ecosystem as 2nd best Award.

In the above facts and with respect to award received, GTU is launching Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Lecture series. The first lecture in the series on “Creativity and Innovation” was given by honoured grass-root innovator, Dr Anil Gupta, Founder, Honey Bee Network. GTU received the fund during Start up Summit held in India International conference as a 2nd prize for creating ecosystem for innovation. Most noteworthy point of this lecture series is that innovation Guru who gave his valuable guidance in IIM Ahmedabad is here to guide you all. I remember that this is the person who started Shodh Yatra and innovation festival in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Due to his efforts many social innovations came into limelight. In this way he has done Social service and gave contribution towards the development of the country.

GTU is the pioneer in taking initiative of Students Start up Support System. Our Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi implemented the idea at National level. And after that Government of Gujarat has brought Student Start up and Innovation Policy SSIP.  Under the programme, Government is providing help to innovators both financially as well as mentorship. We are getting amazing response from enthusiasm of innovators. I have full faith that the zeal and passion of innovators will definitely bring our state lots of innovative projects that will help to solve our social problems and make our life better and happier, Shri Chudasama said.

GTU Innovation Council (GIC) has been designed to establish close bonding between industries, entrepreneurs, faculty members and students to make research and development at the University, relevant to the needs of industries at national and international levels.
