Dr Navin Sheth receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Indian Society of Pharmacognosy

Ahmedabad: Prof. (Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award by Society of Pharmacognosy, the highest national professional body related to herbal drug and concern technology. The award has been given to Prof. (Dr) Sheth for his lifetime contribution to science and excellence in teaching and research in Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry.

The award was given in two days National Conference on “Exploring Herbal Domain: Past, Present and Future of India on Global Map” organized by Govt. College of Pharmacy, Aurangabad in association with Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and Directorate of Technical Education, M.S., Mumbai. The award was given by Prof. V.K. Dixit, President and Prof. C.K. Kokate National Advisor of Society of Pharmacognosy at Deogiri Institute of Engineering and Management, Aurangabad among presence of principals and academicians. The society selects professional at national level for this honour. Previously, the award recipients from Gujarat include Dr. J.C. Bhavsar and Dr. Maltiben Chauhan from L.J. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad as well as Dr. S.H. Mishra from M.S. University, Vadodara.

The Society noted in citation: “We Honour Prof. Sheth on behalf of Society of Pharmacognosy for his lifetime contribution to science and excellence in teaching and research in Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry. We revere him as teacher par excellence who has guided numerous students at graduate, post graduate and doctoral level and illuminated the lives of several more with his teachings. We admire his untiring efforts in strengthening Society of Pharmacognosy as one of the active members.We value the qualities of an outstanding leader in him, namely intergrity, tenacity, sincerity and dedication. May god bless him with all success in future life and a sustained pursuit in the creative synthesis of herbal drugs with modern Pharmaceutical sciences.”

Prof. (Dr) Sheth has been serving for more than three decades in different capacities as teacher, researcher and an administrator. In addition to his services in various committees of UGC, DST and GUJCOST. He has been serving with full of commitments as the member of the Gujarat Public Services Commission and Chairmen of the Board of Pharmacy education, AICTE. He was the head of the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Saurashtra University Rajkot and presently working as Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad.
