Government is planning to promote more and more patent filing by 2020

Ahmedabad: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with Indian Patent Office (IPO) and Gujarat Technological University (GTU) have jointly organized ‘IP AWAKE’ an awareness Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights for MSMEs at CII House, Ahmedabad.

Shri K H Shah, Deputy Director, MSME Development Institute, Ahmedabad, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India said that Government of India has brought many schemes for MSME. We are also giving boost to Start up, innovation, incubation and Patent. Besides these, Lean Scheme, Zero Defect, Zero Effect etc. new have been brought up for promoting Make in India. Government is providing grant to get the concern certification.

Government of Gujarat is planning to create around 100 clusters for MSME. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India (GoI) has adopted the Cluster Development approach as a key strategy for enhancing the productivity and competitiveness as well as capacity building of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) and their collectives in the country. A cluster is a group of enterprises located within an identifiable and as far as practicable, contiguous area and producing same / similar products / services, he added.

Shri B P Singh, Joint Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India said that Indian Patent office is the only office in the world working 24X7 online. By 2020 Government is planning to promote more and more patent filing. National Intellectual Property Awards 2018 will be presented to the awardees at an event in Delhi organized by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) coinciding with World IP Day which falls on 26th April. The objective of conferring the National Intellectual Property (IP) Awards is to recognize and reward individuals and enterprises for their creations and commercialization of IP which have contributed to harnessing the country’s intellectual capital and creating IP eco-system that boosts creativity and innovation. The awards are intended to encourage the innovation and management of intellectual property portfolio that influences the success of a business, whether large or small, in different industry segments.

Dr Vishal Rajgarhia, Chairman, CII Gujarat Pharmaceutical Taskforce & Director, Finecure Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Mr Padmin Buch, Sr Faculty & In charge, New Projects & IPR, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) & Former Managing Director, GITCO and BoA Chairman of Accuprec Research Labs, Dr Manish Rachchh, Director (R & D) and CEO of Accuprec Research Labs, Dr Paras Vasanani, Asst. General Manager – Global IPR, Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Mr Anil K Pandey, Head, CII-MoMSME Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre expressed their opinions. Dr Rupesh Vasani, BoG member of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) spoke about various activities in the fields of IPR being done by GTU, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor, including Sankuls, Shodhyatra and Patent filing as well as start up training. Shri Amit Patel, In-charge of IPR cell of GTU was also present in the event.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with India Patent Office (IPO) will be organizing around 10 IPRs awareness seminar in the country before March 2018.  The main objective of the program is to spread awareness on Patents, Trademarks and Designs with other forms of IPRs among Industries, especially MSMEs. The speakers for the session will be Senior Officials from Indian Patents, Trademarks and Designs office.
