Gandhiji’s Mantra of Gram Swaraj to Rajya Swaraj is the key to India’s development: Dr Deepak Vyas Ahmedabad: “India lives in its villages and development of villages will be necessary if we want true development of India. We have to follow Gandhiji’s slogan of Gram Swaraj (Village development) to Rajya Swaraj (Country’s development). World is becoming small. Global diaspora is ready to help for India’s growth. We hope India to be number 1 economy in coming years.” This was stated by Dr Deepak Kant Vyas, Chairman and CEO, Redberri Global Corporation, St Louis, USA. He was speaking in public lecture on ‘Similarity and diversity between M.K. Gandhi and Martin Luther King’. The lecture was organised by Post Graduate Centre for Business Ethics and CSR of Gujarat Technological University (GTU). He said that “Martin Luther King Jr. took great inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi in pushing forward his Civil Rights Movement. I am proud of my birthplace Gujarat, which is the land of Gandhiji. Martin Luther King Jr. took great inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi in pushing forward his Civil Rights Movement. Although the two never met personally, this is a fact. That’s why we have planned for launching of M.K. Gandhi and Martin Luther King Leadership Research Program at GTU.” Dr Vyas offered to start an Overseas Centre of GTU at Chicago to Prof. (Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of GTU. Dennis Pruitt, Head of State of Missouri, USA, who is part of high level business delegation led by Dr Vyas, also addressed the gathering at GTU. He said that, “I am very much impressed with India. Six companies from India have shown interest to invest in setting up industry in Missouri. He appreciated activities of Centre for Business Ethics and CSR of GTU. Ana Karaman, Vice president and Chief Financial Officer, Webster university, USA also spoke on the occasion. She said we are interested in leadership and business ethics programs. GTU’s Global MBA program, have already introduced two courses in ethics. These are Business Ethics and Gandhian Ethics. Besides this centre is organises a conference of Business Ethics and leadership summit every year. Further, GTU Post Graduate Centre for Management has also initiated one innovative course on Asian Business & Gandhian Philosophy for Managing Business. GTU have signed MOU with Redberri Earth Foundation, USA in line with this Mr. Deepak Kant Vyas, Chairman – CEO, Redberri Corporation visiting GTU on 3rd, March 2017 with an idea to launch M.K. Gandhi and Martin Luther King Leadership Program jointly. In the centre GTU is planning to start Lecture series on Gandhiji and Martin Luther King, Such Centre at USA & Faculty and students exchange for this Leadership Research Program, Prof. (Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of GTU said. Dr Shailesh Thaker, Chief mentor, INDIA AT 2050 and Hon. Director of CBESR presented comparison between Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. He said that action of both the leaders were same. Both were believing in god. Both were followers of non-violence and peace. Nation First was the mission of both the leaders. Both were married & having family. Both were publicly shot dead. We can learn a lot from study of both the leaders. Dr Thaker also gave some motivational tips to students. He said that learn from yesterday and focus on tomorrow. Focus on yourself and not on people. Believe in mission and passion. Dr. Viral Bhatt, Director, SAL Institute of Management said that leadership is connected with performance and efficiency. Gandhiji and Martin Luther were the noble examples of leadership. Shri Amit Thaker, BOG member of GTU addressed students and faculty members. He said that although there was no pocket in cloths of Gandhiji, industrialists like Tata and Birla helped in our country’s freedom movement. That was the first CSR activity. Gujarat has Gandhiji to offer the whole world. Gandhiji is proud of Ahmedabad.
શિકાગોમાં જીટીયુ ઓવરસીઝ સેન્ટર સ્થાપવાની ઑફર
ગ્રામ સ્વરાજથી પૂર્ણ સ્વરાજનો ગાંધીજીનો મંત્ર ભારતના વિકાસની ગુરૂચાવીઃ ડૉ. દિપક વ્યાસ
અમદાવાદઃ ભારત ગામડાઓમાં વસે છે અને ભારતનો વિકાસ કરવો હોય તો ગ્રામવિકાસ આવશ્યક છે. ગ્રામ સ્વરાજથી પૂર્ણ સ્વરાજનો ગાંધીજીનો મંત્ર ભારતના વિકાસની ગુરૂચાવી છે. સંદેશાવ્યવહાર અને ટેકનોલોજીને કારણે દુનિયા નાની બની રહી છે એવા સંજોગોમાં વિદેશમાં વસતા ભારતીયો માતૃભૂમિના વિકાસમાં સહયોગ આપવા તત્પર છે. આગામી વર્ષોમાં અમે ભારતને નંબર-1 અર્થતંત્ર બનેલું જોવા ઈચ્છીએ છીએ, એમ અમેરિકાના રેડબેરી ગ્લોબલ કોર્પોરેશન, સેન્ટ લ્યુઈસના ચેરમેન અને સીઈઓ ડૉ. દિપક વ્યાસે જણાવ્યું હતું.
તેમણે મહાત્મા ગાંધી અને માર્ટીન લ્યુથર કિંગ વચ્ચેના સામ્ય તથા તફાવત વિશે રસપ્રદ વક્તવ્ય આપ્યું હતું. ગુજરાત ટેકનોલોજીકલ યુનિવર્સિટી (જીટીયુ)ના પોસ્ટ ગ્રેજ્યુએટ સેન્ટર ફોર બિઝનેસ એથિક્સ એન્ડ સીએસઆર તરફથી આ ખાસ કાર્યક્રમનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. ડૉ. વ્યાસે જણાવ્યું હતું કે માર્ટીન લ્યુથર કિંગે નાગરિક અધિકાર ચળવળ હાથ ધરવામાં મહાત્મા ગાંધીજીની કામગીરીમાંથી પ્રેરણા મેળવી હતી. મારૂં જન્મસ્થાન ગાંધીજીની ધરતી ગુજરાત જ હોવાનો મને ગર્વ છે. આ જ કારણસર માર્ટીન લ્યુથર કિંગ અને મહાત્મા ગાંધીજી લીડરશીપ રિસર્ચ પ્રોગ્રામ અમે જીટીયુમાં શરૂ કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું છે. ડૉ. વ્યાસે જીટીયુના વાઈસ ચાન્સેલર પ્રો. (ડૉ) નવીન શેઠને શિકાગોમાં જીટીયુનું ઓવરસીઝ સેન્ટર સ્થાપવાની ઑફર પણ કરી હતી.
આ કાર્યક્રમમાં અમેરિકાના મિસુરીના સ્ટેટ હેડ ડેનિસ પ્રુઈટ પણ ઉપસ્થિત હતા. ડૉ. વ્યાસના વડપણ હેઠળ ભારતની મુલાકાતે આવેલા અમેરિકાના પ્રતિનિધિમંડળ અંતર્ગત વિવિધ શહેરોની મુલાકાત લીધા બાદ તેમણે જણાવ્યું હતું કે ભારતથી હું ઘણો પ્રભાવિત થયો છું. અહીં અમારી બેઠકો ફળદાયી રહી છે. ભારતની છ કંપનીઓએ મિસુરીમાં મૂડીરોકાણ કરી ઉદ્યોગ સ્થાપવામાં રસ દર્શાવ્યો છે. જીટીયુમાં ચાલતા સેન્ટર ફોર બિઝનેસ એથિક્સ એન્ડ સીએસઆરની પ્રવૃત્તિઓની પણ તેમણે પ્રશંસા કરી હતી. અમેરિકાની વેબસ્ટર યુનિવર્સિટીના વાઈસ પ્રેસિડન્ટ અને ચીફ ફાઈનાન્શિયલ ઑફિસર એના કેરમને જીટીયુના વિદ્યાર્થીઓને સંબોધતા કહ્યું હતું કે જીવનમાં નેતૃત્વના ગુણો અને બિઝનેસના નૈતિક મૂલ્યોનું ઘણું મહત્ત્વ છે. અમેરિકાના પ્રતિનિધિમંડળે વિદ્યાર્થીઓ અને પ્રોફેસરોના પ્રશ્નોના પ્રત્યુત્તરો પણ આપ્યા હતા. ડૉ. વ્યાસે એક સવાલના જવાબમાં કહ્યું હતું કે અમારી કંપનીમાં અમે બિઝનેસના નૈતિક મૂલ્યોની ખાસ કમિટી બનાવી છે. કોઈપણ સોદો કરતા પહેલા તેને તે સમિતિને સોંપવામાં આવે છે.
જીટીયુના ગ્લોબલ એમબીએમાં નૈતિક મૂલ્યોના બે કોર્સ સામેલ કરવામાં આવેલા છે. બિઝનેસ એથિક્સ અને ગાંધીયન એથિક્સ. આ ઉપરાંત સેન્ટર ફોર બિઝનેસ એથિક્સ એન્ડ સીએસઆર તરફથી દર વર્ષે લીડરશીપ સમીટ પણ યોજવામાં આવે છે. જીટીયુએ આ બાબતમાં આગેકદમ ભરીને અમેરિકાના રેડબેરી અર્થ ફાઉન્ડેશન સાથે કરાર કર્યા છે. જે અંતર્ગત ગાંધીજી અને માર્ટીન લ્યુથર કિંગ લિડરશીપ રિસર્ચ પ્રોગ્રામ સંયુક્તપણે હાથ ધરવામાં આવશે. જીટીયુ આ કરાર અનુસાર વિદ્યાર્થી અને ફેકલ્ટી એક્સચેન્જ કાર્યક્રમો પણ હાથ ધરશે. ભારત અને અમેરિકામાં ગાંધીજી અને માર્ટીન લ્યુથર કિંગ વિશે વ્યાખ્યાનમાળા પણ શરૂ કરવામાં આવશે, એમ જીટીયુના વાઈસ ચાન્સેલર પ્રો. (ડૉ) નવીન શેઠે જણાવ્યું હતું.
જીટીયુના સેન્ટર ફોર બિઝનેસ એથિક્સ એન્ડ સીએસઆરના માનદ નિયામક ડૉ. શૈલેષ ઠાકરે ગાંધીજી અને માર્ટીન લ્યુથર કિંગ વચ્ચેના સામ્યનું વર્ણન કરતા કહ્યું હતું કે બંને નેતાઓની કામગીરી એકસરખી હતી. બંને અહિંસા અને શાંતિના ચાહક હતા. રાષ્ટ્ર પ્રથમ એ બંને નેતાઓનો ગુરૂમંત્ર હતો. બંને નેતાઓ ભગવાનમાં માનતા હતા. બંને પરિણિત હતા અને તેઓ પરિવાર ધરાવતા હતા. બંનેને જાહેરમાં ગોળી મારવામાં આવી હતી. આ બેઉ નેતાઓનો અભ્યાસ કરવામાં આવે તો ઘણું શિખી શકાય. ડૉ. ઠાકરે વિદ્યાર્થીઓને પ્રેરણાદાયી ટીપ્સ આપતા કહ્યું હતું કે ગઈકાલમાંથી કંઈક શિખો અને આવતીકાલ પર ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રિત કરો. મિશન અને પેશનમાં માનો. સાલ મેનેજમેન્ટ ઈન્સ્ટીટ્યુટના પ્રિન્સીપાલ વિરલ ભટ્ટે આ સમારોહમાં સ્વાગત પ્રવચન આપતા જણાવ્યું હતું કે નેતૃત્વ અને કામગીરી પરસ્પર સંકળાયેલા છે. ગાંધીજી અને માર્ટીન લ્યુથર કિંગ નેતૃત્વના ઉમદા ઉદાહરણ છે.
કાર્યક્રમના અંતે જીટીયુના બોર્ડ ઑફ ગવર્નન્સના સભ્ય અમિત ઠાકરે આભારવિધિ કરી હતી. તેમણે જણાવ્યું હતું કે ગાંધીજીના વસ્ત્રોમાં ખિસ્સાનો અભાવ હતો. છતાં ટાટા અને બિરલા જેવા ઉદ્યોગપતિઓએ દેશની આઝાદીની ચળવળમાં મહત્ત્વપૂર્ણ યોગદાન આપ્યું હતું. તેને દેશની પહેલી કોર્પોરેટ સોશિયલ રિસ્પોન્સીબિલીટી ગણી શકાય. દુનિયાને ઑફર કરવા ગુજરાત પાસે મહાન ગાંધીજી છે. અમદાવાદ ગાંધીજીની કર્મભૂમિ બની એ બાબત આપણા બધા માટે ગૌરવપ્રદ છે.
