GTU organizes iFDP to train professors for creating Corporate -Ready Students

Moving into Google-age Work-Integrated Learning …

Ahmedabad: Google, Facebook & Whatsapp age have not only affected our life but also affected students learning system. Now students want more Collaborative & Communicative learning system. To make the students corporate – ready, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has organised International Faculty Development Programme(iFDP) under UK-India Education Collaboration to train faculty members for 21st Century teaching. This program is validated by British high commission. The first batch of around 50 faculty members from Engineering, Diploma, Pharmacy, Management and Computer Application attended this program. After completion of this 2 day iFDP for first batch, same program will be there in GTU, Chandkheda for next batch tentatively in second week of Sedptember-2018 and then selected faculty members will get training in London also.

The 2 day International Faculty Development Program (iFDP) was inaugurated by Prof.(Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor, GTU, Prof.(Dr) S. D. Panchal (Registrar, GTU) and Prof. Shital Nagori Bharwad (Director, Global Training and Education Program- UK). Mr. Mahesh Panchal (Dy. Director, GTU) and Prof. Sarika Srivastav (Asst. Prof., GTU) were the co-ordinators of this program. iFDP is a Faculty Exchange Program which is aimed to rethink and revamp the way of teaching in the world of work, where Teachers adopt  the role of a FACILITATOR and constantly motivate students to accept newer challenges. The main focus of this program is EMPLOY-ABILITY SKILL DEVELOPMENT in WORK-INTEGRATED LEARNING.

Global Training Education Program (GTEP) is an Education Institution Head Office based in London, United Kingdom, Operations in Ahmadabad, Gujarat, India. With GTEP, learners acquire skills and knowledge through Active training programs, workshops and exchange programs (both for faculties and students) done in 4 Phases. Phase 1 & 2 are conducted in India wherein, Phase 2 is held by UK trainers in India itself. Phase 3 & 4 are conducted in United Kingdom wherein, selected learners from phase 1 & 2 get through to this phase

Objectives of Program

  1. To facilitate the knowledge transfer of skills training to Indian stakeholders through UK industry and colleges.

  2. The opportunity to lecture and mingle with colleagues at universities, so that both individual faculties and the Educational Institutes are benefitted in the move towards campus globalization.

  3. Capacity building of both the Heads of the Departments and Training faculties of different universities of Gujarat to deliver an industry relevant skill.

  4. Exposure of UK specialists to the Indian context and cultures to enable them to understand the diverse needs of the Global Economies.

Benefits of Program

  1. The Gujarat state would gain more graduates that have the necessary practical skill sets to be able to mould into the Industries. By reducing the need for on-the job training, these new recruiters are more likely to increase productivity in the industry they work in.

  2. By acquiring the globalized teaching and training, these candidates would also have an excellent set of Interpersonal skills as well as the practical skills so that they would be better placed to deal with a variety of stakeholders, both nationally and internationally.

  3. When faculty integrate intercultural materials into their educational experience, the educational Institute becomes more adaptable to a growing diverse student body, as new approaches, ideas, and different experiences are introduced, thus infusing a global approach to teaching and training.

  4. Faculty members and the Institutions themselves would enjoy knowledge and skills sharing, enabling them to impart more global and practical skills and knowledge to the students, to be more competitive in the age of globalization.
