GTU's unique attempt to create cyber-safe India: Celebration of Cyber Safety and Security Awareness

"Cyber Safety and Security Awareness Week (September 7 to 7)" was celebrated by Gujarat Technological University and Gujarat Police in collaboration with ISEA (Ministry of Electronics and Communication Technology, Government of India) and Cyber Friend (Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India). The main objective of the program was to raise awareness about the proper use of Internet and mobile phones among the students of the schools and colleges.

Mrs. Sangeeta Singh (IAS, Add. Chief Secretary-Home Department, Gujarat State), Mr. Ashish Bhatia (IPS, DGP-CID Crime, State of Gujarat) and Dr. That N. Well done in the presence of the Registrar, GTU. Mr. M. Jagdish Babu (Project Manager-ISEA, C-DAC Hyderabad) in the program informed about the central government's ISEA project and said that the main objective of the government is "Cyber-Safe India". Shri Ashish Bhatia explained the importance of cyber security and security in our daily life by giving a few examples of cyber crime. Registrar, GTU also explained the importance of cyber security in a very simple way. Mrs. Sangita Singh lauded the initiative of GTU and Gujarat Police.

Under this awareness campaign, about 12,500 students were made aware of cyber safety and security. What to look for when using social networking websites, the dangers of over-playing online games, tips for making passwords, what to care for when making an online banking transaction, the risky use of debit cards in ATMs, caution over using public Wi-Fi, and mobile phones. Volunteer information from GTU volunteers at school and colleges about tactful use, etc. The questions asked by the students in the school-colleges were answered satisfactorily. Apart from this, Kalpur Railway Station, Gitamandir Bus Station and Ranip Bus Terminus are also connected. A seminar was organized on 28/9/19 on the above issues related to cyber safety for citizens. For women employees of GTU Cyber Safety and Security Workshop was organized on 26/9/19 at GTU-Chandkheda Campus in which Mrs. Toralban M. Patel (PSI, CID-Crime), while present, had informed the sisters of the cyber crimes and guarded them with all the precautions to be taken to prevent such crimes.

A rally was also organized on 30/9/19 at the GTU campus Chandkheda-ONGC Circle and Wisat Circle under the above campaign. GTU volunteer students, NSS volunteers and GTU-GSET faculty members participated in the rally. At this rally, volunteers tried to raise awareness of cybersecurity through informative posters.


 

GTU 150 Master Trainer to bring Awareness for Cyber Security in Gujarat

Gujarat Technological University does a very commendable job in the field of cyber security in Gujarat. This was also noted by a cyber friend operating within the Ministry of Home Affairs. The MHA praised GTU's performance by writing a special paper to GTU, and encouraged them to bring awareness about cyber security.

GTU has been active and active in bringing about vulnerability in the area of cyber security for the past several years. For the purpose of implementing this directive of the MHA to commemorate the 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, Gujarat Technological University has decided to launch 150 Awareness Program in the field of cyber security. In this regard, a Master Trainer program - Cyber Safety and Security Awareness Program was organized by Gujarat Technology with the aim of providing the capability building and trainers guidance in the field of cyber security.

t is noteworthy that in addition to the Gujarat Police, Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA), MeitY and Cyber Friend, MHA projects have also joined this initiative of GTU. And all together will celebrate Cyber Security Week from September 24 to September 30, 2019. The start of this entire program was launched on September 7, 2009 under a special program.

The downside of the talk during this program was that cybercrime is on the rise, so cyber security is needed. In addition, a program that offers more guidance on cyber security was also launched in the program. And the poster for the program was launched as well.

The Master Trainer Program - Cyber Safety and Security Awareness Program was organized on September 17, 2019 at GTU under this program. Students, faculties, school teachers, software engineers, professors have joined the program. 300 registrations came from all over Gujarat. Of the 150 master trainers selected, GTU prepared them in the program on September 17.

Now these Master Trainers will be organizing 150 Awareness Programs during Cyber Security Week, with the aim of bringing awareness to cyber security among the people. During this week, awareness will be brought to the public by organizing programs like workshops and road shows on public places like live shows, bus stations, airports, railway stations, malls etc. on Doordarshan and All India Radio. Accountants including Gujarat Police, Government of India - Ministry of Affairs were joined in the program organized on 24th September-19th. Many dignitaries attended.

Talking about this program, the Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat Technological University, Shri Prof (Dr) Navin Sheth said that “GTU is constantly conducting innovative experiments in the field of cyber security across Gujarat. GTU's Cyber Security Cell is constantly striving for the cyber well-being of the people of Gujarat, even with the involvement of government accounts. We will try to bring awareness to the people by making 150 cyber security programs in celebration of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary by turning this opportunity given to us by MHA.
