GTU to send 39-member team in National Robocon at Pune

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has completed the preparations for ROBOCON 2017 event. The National Robocon will be held from 2nd to 4th March 2017 at the Shiv Chatrapati Krida Sankul, Pune. GTU to send 39-member team including 37 students and Two faculty members from 21 colleges. The GTU ROBOCON team was felicitated by Prof (Dr.) Navin Sheth, honourable Vice Chancellor of GTU.

The Winner of the National Robocon 2017 will represent India in the International Robocon 2017 to be held in Tokyo, Japan in August 2017. The theme for International Robocon 2017 is revolves around the word “asobi” (play), which is also a fundamental philosophy behind Robocon in Japan. In “asobi,” playful, unique, original show of skills is often more important than winning or losing, as everyone – friend and foe alike – can applaud and enjoy them. Robotic Contests (Robocons) organised by Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and its member countries including Doordasrshan (Prasarbharati) of India offer young engineers a platform to innovate and excel in creative thinking. Here, they demonstrate their technical ideas in robotics, as well as establish cross cultural contacts in an environment.

Community Innovation & Co-Creation Centre (CiC3) of GTU organised training programme for the team since last August, 2016. The training included software and component training part. Aim of the event is to build essential skills such as Team work, Team Spirit, Management work, Pressure handling skills, Decision making skills, Extensive gain of technical knowledge, Circuit designing skill, Programming skill among GTU engineering students. Mission of GTU ROBOCON Team is to provide an opportunity to young, enthusiastic and talented engineering students, to showcase their passion in ROBOTICS by participating on National/International Robotics competition. GTU has been trying through a number of innovative programs and initiatives, to significantly improve the quality of engineering students that it offers to the industry and society.
