GTU to start advanced training at Centre of Excellence in Automation from 15th June

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will start advanced training at Centre of Excellence in Automation from 15th June. GTU has set up five hi tech laboratories having state-of-the art equipment at Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Automation Technologies in association with Bosch-Rexroth India Limited (BRIN) in Vishwakarma Government Engineering College at GTU Chandkheda Campus. Bosch Rexroth India Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of BOSCH Rexroth Germany and is one of the leading specialists in drive & control technology.

Prof. (Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of GTU said that main objective of setting up the Centre of Excellence in Automation is to develop industry institute partnership in the field of Automation, Mobile Hydraulic, Automobile, and Mobile Electronics Technologies to bridge technology gaps between industry and academia to foster research and knowledge among the students at GTU. In this respect, University’s first Centre of Excellence in Automation will start training of students in Vishwakarma Government Engineering College (VGEC), Chandkheda, Ahmedabad. No registration fees will be taken for the training.

This centre will act as a place to educate Automation Technologies to students with focus on Training, Knowledge transfer, Research Projects, Application Oriented Research and Innovation. These centres will improve employability with latest skill sets and provide opportunities for developing entrepreneurs based on advance technology. The main goal of the centre would be to improve the technical competence, employability and entrepreneurship of UG & PG students who train at the centre and encourage students to pursue PG programs.

GTU- Centre of Excellence in Automation has announced training program in below mention area.

Hydraulics

  1. Pneumatics

  2. Sensorics

  3. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)

  4. Robotics & Mechatronics

Registration procedure:

For GTU affiliated institute Student/Faculty: To get the training in various labs of CoE in Automation, the applicant from affiliated institutes have to fill the application form as per Annexure-A and submit signed application form to their institute’s GTU coordinator. GTU coordinator will forward interested student/faculty training application forms along with forwarding letter and summary sheet as per Annexure-B to University in hard copy or mail scan copy. After receiving an application from institutes, University will provide training schedule to institute on the basis of availability of labs for student/faculty training. The training will start after completion of the student exam.

The centre of competence is established to bridge the gap between industry expectations and theoretical deficiencies with the following objectives:

  1. To provide hands on experience to the students of engineering and polytechnics institutes to the recent technologies practiced in the industry

  2. To enable all the students in different regions and rural areas to have exposure to industry and technologies, by the concept of center of excellence. The scope of activity of the GTU-Bosch Rexroth Centre of Competence is:

  3. The centre will provide the training to faculty, students of engineering and polytechnic institute and industries in the coastal region.

  4. The centre will offer projects to the students of the Engineering.

The Centre of excellence offers courses on various hardware platforms. These courses are intended for B.Tech Students of all disciplines the training at GTU-BOSCH Centre of Competence is at par with BOSCH Rexroth International standard. The training contents and course materials is same as used by BOSCH Rexroth Global. Following training programs are being organized by GTU-BOSCH Rexroth Centre of Competence in regular/ evening/ Weekend batches during every semester and also in vacation period.

In first phase Student from BE/ B.Tech / Diploma Engineers of Electrical, Electronics & communication, Instrumentation, Chemical, EEE, Mechanical & Mechatronics branches can participate in the training. Later stage training will also be provided to following:

  1. Faculty offering subjects in the branch of Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Control, Mechatronics, and Electrical.

  2. Students pursuing M.E. in the branch of Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Control, Mechatronics, Electrical.

  3. IInd / IIIrd / IVth year Engineering students looking for summer / Winter Training (with project guidance).

  4. Working professionals from Maintenance, Projects, Quality, R & D, Production, Design, Service, Application engineering. (Option of Week-end Classes)

  5. ITI Electrician/ Electronics / Fitter etc. Professionals with industry experience

  6. Companies looking to meet Training Needs of their technical staff.
