GTU to train professors on latest challenges in the cyber security through series of FDPs

School of Engineering and Technology & PG Research Centre for Cyber Security of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will organise series of Faculty Development Programs (FDP) on Cyber-crime and Latest Challenges in Cyber Security under Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project II.

Prof.(Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of GTU said that main aim of the new series of FDP is to provide state-of-the-art practices in the domain of cyber security to the faculty members. These five days program will cover from the basics of cyber attacks, providing secure cyber environment, cyber crimes, ethical hacking and present challenges. It also covers the mechanism to protect operating system, network and data from cyber attacks.

Eminent Experts will include Mr Rakshit Tandon, Director Executive-Council of Information Security. Rakshit Tandon has created a revolution in the field of cyber security. He has gone one step up and besides touching just keyboards and wires all the time he has touched lives of lakhs of people. He has undertaken the herculean task of travelling the nation and has spoken to more than 17.50 lacs children schools/Colleges. As a Chief Resource Advisor and Speaker for IAMAI (Internet and Mobile Association of India), presently executing the "SAFE SURFING CAMPAIGN" conducting seminars on ‘Cyber Threats to Children in Digital World' for students, teachers and parents. He is sensitizing them about the types of Cyber Crimes, Preventive Measures to be taken while surfing the Internet, Information Technology Act and the Remedial Measures that can be taken if one is victimised by the cyber criminals. He has a wonderful way of connecting to his audience, from 8 to 80, everyone can relate to his simple and touching manner of explaining the complications and implications of the Web.

Another trainer will be Mr. Krishan Sharma, Cyberdroid Technologies Pvt.Ltd. He has 6 years’ experience in organizing workshops and speaking on the topic of Ethical Hacking and Digital Forensics in almost all the IITs’, NITs’ and other reputed engineering colleges. He is expert in comprehensive IT security training services in the areas of Ethical Hacking, Network security, Cryptography, Kali Linux research, Digital Forensics and Cyber Crime Investigations.Other experts from different industry and academic institute.

In each series 40 Faculty members of Degree/Diploma level engineering colleges/universities recognized by AICTE/UGC and from following disciplines: Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Technology, Information Technology, Information & Communication Technology or Faculty members of MCA/BCA colleges/university departments running MCA/BCA course recognized by AICTE/UGC can participate in the event.

Background

In the year of 2017, GTU School of Engineering and Technology has started to run AICTE approved PG course, Master of Engineering in Computer (Specialization in Cyber Security) with the vision of providing excellent technical knowledge and preparing competent man-power in the specialization of cyber security. This course runs under GTU-School of Engineering & Technology (GSET). In the year of 2018, Master of Engineering in Electronics and Communication (Specialization in Mobile Communication and Network Technology) has been started. Both these courses have an intake of 30 students.
