GTU to train students on Emerging Technologies

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Technological University is organizing two days’ Workshop on “Emerging Technologies: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning” on 7th-8th February, 2019 at GTU, Chandkheda campus. This workshop would provide a Unique Learning opportunities for Essential skills and perspectives for surviving and prospering in the era of disruption and exponential growth to the student innovators, faulty members and other stakeholders of GTU and useful for all Streams of Engineering, Pharmacy and Management, since these emerging technologies are applicable to all industries & all streams.

This workshop is supported by Design Innovation Centre – A MHRD funded scheme and in association with IIT-Kanpur & Innovation Research Foundation (IRF), Ahmedabad. GTU is establishing a full-fledged Design Innovation Centre (DIC) to support ideas of student innovators at University Premise as Hub and other 3 institutes (in Rajkot, Surat and Modasa) as spokes to cover entire state. The basic purpose of setting up DIC is to promote, nurture and advance the culture of design, innovation, creative problem solving and entrepreneurship among young minds. GTU – DIC would support in product design and development, prototype building through full-fledged FabLab, mentorship and networking, IPR support, training and workshop, skill developments, fellowship and awards to best projects/solutions, co-working space etc.

Experts: Dr. Deepu Philip is a faculty in the IME Department of IITK. He is also a faculty of the Design Program and heads the smart systems and operations laboratory of IIT Kanpur. Dr. Ashutosh Khanna is a faculty of Strategy at International Management Institute, New Delhi where he is also the head for Strategy & General Management and Chairman of the Center for Disruptive Innovation & Enterprise [CDIE].

On 8th February from 10am-12pm, there will be a panel discussion on “Emerging Technologies – Opportunities, Manpower Gap & Industry Expectations” by Industry and Government experts and “Emerging Technologies – Role of academia, efforts done to meet Industry Expectations” by academic experts followed by Q&A.
