Government of Gujarat has declared the ranking of state's universities and colleges based on 13 different parameters including student-teacher ratio, teachers' qualification, its finances and research projects undertaken. According to the rankings, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) got a four-star ranking with a score of 61.47 out of 90 marks, while Gujarat University was ranked fourth with a score of 60.73 and was graded lower than even Saurashtra University which got 61.94. St. Xavier's College was ranked as the top college in the state with a score of 69.46, followed by EDI among others.
Responding about the Award received for getting 1st Rank in Gujarat State Institutional Ranking, Prof.(Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) said that Parameters considered for the 1st Rank given to us were: Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation outcomes, Outreach and inclusivity. We are happy that GTU got 3.59 CGPA out of 5 CGPA and emerged as 4-star university. The professional ecosystem developed by Student Start up Support System and Industry - Academia bridge strengthening helped us in this. Some of our outreach policies like compulsory Industry visit also helped us. GTU aspires to become International Innovative University since begining. Now my dream is to make the university World Class and we are moving in that direction.
