HR should be Mission driven, says T.V. Rao

Ahmedabad: “There are Four categories of people: (1) Doers, who get things done, (2) Achievers, who do more than what they are required to do, (3) Visionaries, who are the leaders and (4) Missionaries. HR Managers should be Mission driven i.e. Missionaries.” These are the words of Dr T.V. Rao, who is considered to be the father of HRD in India said in an event.

He was speaking in HR Meet on “Assessment and Appraisal of New Recruits: Trends and Practices” held on 4th Feb’2017. This event was jointly organized by Oakbrook Business School  &  Aadishwar College of Technology – Venus. Dr Rao told that there are three types of people: effective, very effective and Super effective. He elaborated from his book ‘Effective People’ that Jeff Haden described 9 habits of super effective people: (1) They always start with goals (2) Then they create system (3) They believe in themselves (4) They believe they are in control of their lives (5) And yet they also embrace ‘random’ (6) They find happiness in the success of others and (7) They use their goals to make decisions automatic (8) They don’t multitask and (9) They freely ask for help. He advised students to do something different, periodically refresh yourself and keep yourseld updated. Always think: how can I be useful to the society?

After the key note speech of Dr Rao, panel discussion was held in the event. Eminent members of the  panel include  Dr. D.M.Pastonjee (HR faculty –Ex. IIMA),  Prof.T.V.Rao ,Chairman,T.V. Rao Learning Systems Pvt. Ltd.,  Mr. Jayesh Saluja , Vice President – Group HR , Ratnamani Metals & Tubes Ltd.,  Dr. Gaurav  Buch  Group Head – HR & Admin, Rasna Pvt. Ltd.,    Mr. Omprakash Todawal –Regional Human Resource Manager , Bluedart Express Ltd. ,  Ms.Birva Patel , Senior Manager HR, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. ,  Mr. Harsh Shah Unit Manager – Regional Operation & Administration , Teamlease Services Ltd. ,  Mr.Sunil Nair , Director, Ethos HR Management & Projects P.Ltd. participated in it.

Dr Ragin Shah, Director General of Venus Group of Colleges welcomed all and said that this initiative was to bridge the gap between demand & supply in the job market by creating better understanding on a common platform amongst professionals & academicians. Dr Shraddha Sheth, CEO of Oakbrook Business School said that Due to digitalization, recruitment process has been changed. The event has been organised to provide knowledge of latest trend to Management students.
