GTU colleges from Surat and V V Nagar received Dewang Mehta IT Awards

GESIA offers mentorship and market approach for 16 innovative projects

Ahmedabad: If you are not planning for your future 5 or 10 years, you may be history. In the age of entrepreneurship & competition, we will have to define our goals. Reimagine things as there is no dearth of opportunities. CP Gurnani, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tech Mahindra & Chairman of the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) said.

NASSCOM’s Regional Council along with Gujarat Technological University (GTU), Dewang Mehta Foundation Trust & GESIA organised Shri Dewang Mehta IT award on 10th August, 2016, the 54th Birth Anniversary of Mr. Dewang Mehta at Tagore Hall, Ahmedabad. Gurnani gave key note speech in the ceremony. He said that within 15 years, IT industry is now 150 billion dollar industry and is responsible for 3.5 million jobs. In future i.e. the age of driverless car, due to automation entry level and mid-level IT jobs will be affected in the next decade. Choose a path less travelled.

73 colleges participated for Project submission. Total 93 projects were registered among which scrutiny was done by Jury from Industries and academia – and top 16 projects were shortlisted. The winners of Dewang Mehta IT Awards 2016 were the students of –

  1. Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology, Surat

  2. H. Patel college of Engineering and Technology – Vallabh Vidyanagar

  3. D. Patel Institute of Technology, Vallabh Vidyanagar

  4. Charotar University of Science and Technology – CHARUSAT, Changa

Dr. Rajul Gajjar, I/c Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) said that there will be some grand challenges of engineering like Advanced personalised learning, Advanced virtual reality, Advanced health informatics, Secured cyberspace, Access to greenfield technology etc. She told students that you are the future, you are the ignited minds of India. Excellence and quality speaks for itself. If you maintain excellence, you will not have any problem of language. Power of imagination makes us infinite.

Chendil Kumar addressed students about ‘Communicate, Connect and Discover your strengths’. He said that the world is changing fast, if you will not change, you will be vanished. He referred the famous quote of Alvin Toffler, which says: “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.”

Maulik Bhansali of GESIA announced the offer of mentorship and market approach for 16 innovative projects. P. Shriganesh, trustee as well as Vivek Ogra & Kailasben Thakkar of Dewand Mehta Foundation Trust and Dr. Chetan Samant, Deputy Director of the foundation gave the detail about activities of the foundation. Jury members of the award were felicitated on the occasion including Prof. Y.I. Shah from Maharashtra, Prof. Asim Banerjee from DICT, Gandhinagar, Prakash Advani & Jaimin Shah. GTU co-ordinators Kinjal Dave and Hema Rajput were felicitated by the foundation. Dr. Parulkumari Bhati, Deputy Director of GTU was also present in the event.
