The National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), working under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, is the premiere organization in India for promoting a Culture of Science in the country. The Council operates through twenty five science museums/centres spread all over India and develops new Science Cities/Science Centres in different parts of the country. Besides, NCSM is setting up of Innovation Hubs in various Science Centres/Museums and Non-formal educational institutions in the country to promote innovation, creativity and engagement in science by the young minds.
34 Innovation Hubs have been set up so far and work for setting up of Innovation Hubs in 15 locations is under different stages of development/implementation. Workshops, Seminars and awareness activities related to IPR are a part and these Hubs and facilitate application for patent and copyrights. These innovation hubs are doing work for promotion of innovation and research among the school and college students.
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) had supported National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Kolkata for conducting a Four days IPR training workshop for Innovation Hub Coordinators, which was held during 19th - 23rd September, 2019 at NCSM Kolkata. More than 30 participants from more than 20 different states of India had taken part in session.
A team of GTU experts comprising of Dr.Chandan Chatterjee (CEO – AtalInculbation Center, GTU), Mr. Padmin Buch (Advisor for GTU IPR Cell & Chairman of Board of Advisors at Accuprec Research Labs Pvt. Ltd) and Mr. Amit Patel (Assistant Professor, GTU) were the resource persons for this programme.
Prof. (Dr) Navin Sheth (VC, GTU) has said “Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has a strong IPR Cell, and we will support all the colleges, schools, university and Industry for any kind of their IPR needs, weather awareness programmes, capacity building on advanced topics, IP filing support or technology transfer and commercialisation. To the best of GTU capability, GTU will always support everyone within Gujarat and across India as and when required.”
