Reverse trend in GTU Pharmacy Placement Fair: 800 students available against 821 jobs

Ahmedabad: 6th Centralised Pharmacy Placement Fair of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) to be organised on 08-09 April 2017 (Saturday- Sunday) at GTU Chandkheda campus. Total Companies to take part – 59 confirmed so far and few others are in discussion. Total Job offers made by all companies are for 821 posts. Reverse trend will be seen as expected students to take part in this placement fair are 800 from 58+ B.Pharm, M.Pharm and D. Pharm colleges affiliated to GTU.

A strong networked volunteer team of 40+ faculty members from GTU affiliated 70 pharmacy colleges have made their day-night efforts to build this mechanism and structure to invite all largest, SME and Service sector pharmaceutical companies on one platform at GTU to develop state of the art model for Industry-academia-government partnership model. GTU organises Centralised Pharmacy Placement Fair since last 4 years. Earlier students were reluctant to choose Pharmacy as a career, but now it has become an attraction as job opportunities have been increased significantly. Entire scenario has been changed since last 3 years and backbone of pharma companies is also a cause of the new trend, Prof. (Dr) Navin Sheth told.

Major Pharma companies which are going to take part are Zydus Cadila, Torrent Pharmaceutical Limited, Lincoln Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Amneal Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., IPCA Laboratories Ltd, Troikaa Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Novo Nordisk India Private Ltd, Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Aculife Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. (NirLife), GVK EMRI, Bharat Parentral Ltd., Liva Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Planet Health, Finecure Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Mercury Laboratories Limited, HCG Multispecialty Hospital, Medkart pharmacy etc. The job offers made in following areas by various Pharmaceutical and Health care Companies Production, Marketing, Research & Development, Formulation & Development, IPR, Quality Control and Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Registered Pharmacist (Medical Store), Medical Coding – Medical Writing – Medical Transcription – Medical Billing, Distribution – Logistics – Purchase – Store – Inventory – Project, Teaching – Academics etc., said Dr. C.N. With an objective to make students familiar with different job profile available in pharmaceutical industries and to develop soft skills of students, Pre-placement workshops are planned at different zone level. Amit Patel, I/c Pharmacy section of GTU informed that the Centralised Placement Fair was started in the year 2014. In that year 382 students got jobs. After which every year, job opportunities have been increased in respective years. Demand of students was increased from pharma companies, hospitals and government. The demand was so high that we have to organise supplementary Placement Fairs.
