Tata Tech joins hands with GTU to establish hi tech Research Centres

GTU signs MoUs with Tata Tech & National Skill Development Corporation

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has signed Two MoUs with Tata Tech and Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC) of National Skill Development Corporation. The MoUs were signed in Sankul Day celebration ceremony held at Paryavaran Mandir, Ahmedabad on 14th February, 2017.

As a part of Industry-Academia linkages to promote Design Innovation culture, the MoUs were signed by Shri J.C. Lilani, I/c Registrar on behalf of GTU and dignitaries from Tata Tech Mr. Siddharth Katti, Head Business Development, Mr. Sushil Kumar, Senior Manager– Asia Pacific & Education Services and Mr. Mahesh Biradar, Territory Manager Gujarat – Technology Solutions. MoU between GTU and LSSSDC (Life Science Sector Skills Development Council) was signed by Shri Lilani and Dr. D SenGupta, Senior Advisor, CII.

The purpose of these agreements is to establish, maintain and enhance academic and intellectual interaction between the GTU and signing partners through specific initiatives with a view to promoting excellence in studies and practices relating to Engineering and Technological Sciences. In recognition of the mutual interest both the partners would work in the areas of Engineering and Technological Sciences for conducting Workshops / Seminars / Conferences, training, research and consultancy projects to promote joint research in Design, Innovation and Entrepreneurship through skill development, Prof (Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of GTU said.

Brief on MoU Between GTU and Tata Tech:

GTU is establishing eight (8) PG research centre in Engineering and Pharmacy. GTU has taken number of initiatives in the areas like Design, Innovation, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. On the other hand, Tata Technologies proved the global presence in Technology and Engineering domain. With this MoU between GTU and Tata Technologies, both organizations would share their knowledge in latest trends in engineering and technology to equip these PG research Centres to be established at GTU with state of the art facility. Tata Tech helps GTU to replicate the industry model and practices at university to promote Design and Innovation so students would learn practical aspects. Also both organizations would coordinate in areas of research, training, certificate courses, workshops, seminars, conferences etc. in future.

Brief on MoU Between GTU and LSSDC:

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has been mandated to setup sector skill council for the express purpose of sector specific competencies (skill development). The Indian life science sector (comprising Pharmaceuticals, Bio-tech and Clinical) has been growing at a CAGR of 17%. LSSSDC has been setup in cooperation with NSDC and CII to meet the shortage of skilled workforce across functions and levels. GTU and LSSSDC association would act as stepping stone to achieve the objectives set by NSDC. GTU – LSSSDC collaboration is intended to contribute in sector specific skill development of youth in Indian Life Science Sector comprising of Pharmaceuticals, Bio-tech and clinical. This Short term certificate course shall be open for all who are or want to pursue their career in Pharma sector.
