Ahmedabad: GTU innovation council is working to develop the startup ecosystem since its inception and we conduct many sessions for sensitization and capacity building in various sectors. On the occasion of International Women’s day GTU had invited renowned speakers who discussed their entrepreneurial journey. The programme main discussion was held in two distinct sessions with specific agendas; first session was on Challenges and Opportunities of first generation women entrepreneur and agendas were What it takes to be a first gen women entrepreneur? Social issues which become challenges for the first gen entrepreneur and Opportunities and learning during your startup journey for which we had with us Mrs. Ronak Shaik Founder Rapharo, Ms. Riya Shah Founder easy puja, Ms. Abha Mehra Founder Lautalica, Ms. Priyanshi Shah Founder Prishie and Mrs. Jumana Shah, Executive Editor DNA, Founder of a social enterprise and is a key person of Gujarat literature Festival. The Session was very interactive and speakers discussed their challenges due to societal issues and how did they overcome them their challenges. They also discussed about the opportunities that helped their ventures to groom. The second session was on Economic Impact of Women Entrepreneurs with the agendas such as; Promoting Women’s Economic Participation in India, Which industries attract women and how can they play a unique role in developing the GDP, Discussion on strong economies of agglomeration in manufacturing and service based start-ups for which we had with us Dr. Mamta brahmbhatt, Associate Professor, B.K School of Management, Ruzan Khambhatta, Social Activist and Founder of 1091 helpline, Dr. Geetika Saluja Head- CoE at Varmora Granito Pvt Ltd, Ms. Minal Mehta Chartered Accountant, Ms. Vibha Malik Chartered Accountant and Mrs. Pooja Somaiya Co-Founder of DialogueMakers. The session was uniquely inclined towards which industries can attract women how we can convert them into huge ventures and different clusters of industries in Gujarat which can show agglomeration in manufacturing and service based start-ups. Students kept their questions to the panellists as to how they can kick-start their service based start-up. Asst. Professor Tosha Shukla discussed that GTU has 17.06% of female students in engineering who should be sensitized towards entrepreneurship and discussed about various policies of Govt. which can benefit them.
